FR   DAYS!

Tenor, Dan O'Brien, has been harmonizing songs with his voice, guitar, trumpet, or piano for as long as he can remember.  When his HS choir director asked him to test his head voice with some guys from the choir, he became the tenor in his first quartet.  Dan's been singing barbershop ever since, most recently with the Singing Capitol Chorus, the Alexandria Harmonizers, and the quartet Soundbite.  He is a budding arranger, and thinks he might soon convince FRiDAYS! to sing one of his songs.

Lead, Bob Caldwell’s first quartet experience was appearing in the school board quartet of The Music Man.  His first real quartet, Treasure Chest came from the ranks of The Virginians chorus.  In 2000 he took a job in McLean VA and joined the Harmonizers and since then has only been at home in Richmond on irregular weekends to spend time with family and to rehearse with his other quartet, International Senior medalist, City Slickers, now retired.  Family and friends wonder if Bob is not secretly working at Langley for the CIA disguised as Jackie Gleason.

Ken Ives, baritone, says "Harmony is my life!"  In the children's choir he sang alto so he did not have to sing unison.  Ken played trumpet in band and sang in glee club through HS with roles in five musicals including The Music Man quartet.  After college a Navy career took him to Iceland, Sicily, and the Philippines, and at each station he performed in a musical group.  He joined organized barbershopping in PA in 1985 where he sang in several quartets but after a job transfer brought him to MD he joined the Harmonizers where he is baritone section leader.  He sang with Syzygy, a popular Mid-Atlantic district quartet and partnered with Bob in Encore! and 7th Street.

Air Force brat and bass man, Steve Murane, was born in CA but calls the world home.  He has lived in HI, OK, KS,  Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, Afghanistan and now VA.  He learned piano and clarinet, while also singing in school and church choirs and formed his first quartet, Second Generation, with his father and brother, Nick.  College was followed by a lengthy barbershop drought while in the Army overseas.  In 2007 he and his brother joined the Harmonizers where he was recruited to sing with FRiDAYS!  Yes, ladies, Steve is single.

Formed in January 2008, in February FRiDAYS! won the Harmonizers chapter contest.  Three months later they qualified at Southern Division contest for M-AD District competition in the fall.
